How does ribbon connect to a new pc100 card ports labeled j1 and j2 on card ribbon conn blue,black, grey?
tried different config. j1 port blue side of ribbon and grey to hard drive?PC card ports j1 blue and j2 port is white
Blue end of IDE ribbon goes to the blue end of the pc100 card in the J1 port, make sure you have the ribbon pin 1 in correctly. On the harddrive pin 1 is always by the stripe on the IDE cable (usually red stripe) which is closest to the power plug. Black end of IDE ribbon goes to the hard drive. Make sure you hard drive(s) are set correctly with the jumpers. ie. master, master with slave, slave, cable select.
If you have a second hard drive you will plug the gray end of the ide ribbon into it, same pin 1 configuration as above.
You may be having trouble because the card isn't installed yet. You should boot in with your original configuration (assuming this is an upgrade and your computer was running before) and make sure the controller card is found and installed. After that shut down the computer and set up the ide cables.
